Executive Director (ED)

[Full-Time Position]

 

The Heiltsuk Tribal Council is seeking to fill the full-time position of Executive Director.

 

Purpose:  The Executive Director is responsible for implementation of HTC policies and decisions for the administration HTC government programs as well as directing a team of professionals and support staff.   The ED will direct and oversee management of HTC admin. and provide leadership to HTC programs delivered by the Heiltsuk Tribal Council.

The successful candidate will thrive on developing strong relationships with staff, interagency organizations, and government. The Executive Director will be flexible and willing to take an active part when it comes to developing programs and initiatives that provide support to our community while proactively leading, promoting, and enhancing the activities of the organization. This role will appeal to a highly strategic visionary leader, ready to embrace challenge, who can manage multiple projects and demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making skills. Reporting and accountable to the Heiltsuk Tribal Council, the successful candidate will possess a post secondary education in administration
or other related discipline or equivalent with a proven track record in a senior management role, preferably within a non-profit Aboriginal environment and reporting to a Board, with the following requirements: 


• Significant knowledge and understanding of Heiltsuk peoples’ cultures traditions, issues, protocols and community;
• Demonstrated successful experience building and maintaining effective working relationships with an ability to achieve results through a consultative collaborative approach;
• Superior written and verbal communication, presentation, financial management skills and negotiation skills;
• A strong understanding of HTC program issues and interests combined with a passion and enthusiasm for this work;

• Expertise to oversee the fulfillment of existing planning/strategy processes with the ability to identify potential funding sources and proposal writing skills. Experience with INAC & other related funding agreements is an asset.

Salary: will commensurate with education and experience and in accordance with the Heiltsuk Tribal Council pay grid.
